Microsoft to Begin Construction on Granger Data Center by May 2026

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Construction of a Microsoft data center in Granger, Indiana, is set to begin in late April or early May 2026. The project includes six data center buildings, providing around 300 jobs. Microsoft will pay full property taxes and will cover infrastructure upgrades such as widening Cleveland Road and enhancing water and sewer services for $30 million.

The facility will utilize Mishawaka City water and will not draw from local aquifers. A closed-loop cooling system will utilize trucked-in water, which will be cleaned after two years. Microsoft will also run training programs in collaboration with local schools.
