Microsoft's Economic Impact in Portugal Estimated at €7.3 Billion by 2025
According to a study by EY, Microsoft is projected to have an economic impact of €7.3 billion in Portugal by 2025, equating to 2.5% of the GDP. This figure considers the entire ecosystem, including partners leveraging Microsoft technologies.
The expected economic contribution could increase to €9 billion as the data center in Sines reaches full capacity, representing 3.1% of GDP. The study estimates that 35,000 jobs, both direct and indirect, are created due to Microsoft and its partners, with AI investments potentially generating an additional 8,300 jobs. Microsoft’s ongoing investment in the Sines data center includes $10 billion for advanced Nvidia GPU installations, which are already in production.
