Middle East Energy Initiatives: Saudi Arabia's BESS Projects, Masdar's Growth, and EDB Financing

Saudi Arabia is launching six battery energy storage projects under a BOO model, with a total capacity of 3,000 MW and 12,000 MWh, aimed at enhancing grid reliability and renewable energy integration. Masdar has expanded significantly over 20 years and is supported by TAQA, Mubadala, and ADNOC, focusing on solar, wind, and clean technologies.
The Emirates Development Bank has allocated AED 272 million to 30 firms in Umm Al Qaiwain, targeting key sectors to boost local economic growth. Additionally, the EBRD signed an MoU with Jordan to advance renewable energy initiatives and green hydrogen development, while DEWA's R&D Centre is focusing on next-generation solar technologies. Rising geopolitical tensions are influencing energy security measures in Europe, particularly in the solar sector.
