Midvaal Launches R47 Million Substation Project to Enhance Power Supply
Midvaal Local Municipality has initiated a R47 million project to construct a new substation, aimed at augmenting electricity supply and distribution. This initiative supports local economic development by involving local SMMEs and providing job opportunities.

Midvaal Local Municipality has begun a R47 million substation project to enhance electricity capacity. The project includes the construction of an 88kV control room, switching rooms, and an oil-holding dam for transformers, adhering to Eskom standards.
Local economic development is prioritized with the appointment of 10 SMMEs and expected job creation for at least 26 local laborers. Training in various trades, including bricklaying and plumbing, is being provided to enhance workforce skills, which could have long-term benefits for the local economy and community infrastructure.
