Minera Centinela Announces $4.4B Expansion Plan Marking 12th Anniversary
Minera Centinela plans a $4.4 billion investment to enhance its copper production capacity by 144,000 metric tons annually. This project will extend the mine's life by 30 years and position it as a unique mining district in Chile with simultaneous operations across five pits.

Minera Centinela is set to invest $4.4 billion in a new expansion plan aimed at increasing copper production and extending the mine's operational life. Scheduled to commence in 2027, the project includes a second concentrator plant, boosting annual output by 144,000 metric tons and allowing for five open pits to operate concurrently.
Since integrating the Esperanza and Tesoro mines in 2014, Centinela has embraced advanced technologies and autonomous systems, anticipating over 100 autonomous trucks by year-end. Additional projects, including Polo Sur Óxidos, will further enhance resource utilization and employment opportunities in the region. This scale of investment may significantly impact local economies and supply chains.
