Mining Engineer Transitions to Woodworking Entrepreneur

Paul Gillespie, an experienced underground mining engineer, worked with Hanna & Consolidation Coal Companies in Eastern Ohio before his roles at the White Pine Copper Mine in Michigan and Quinsam Coal Mine in British Columbia, Canada. After retiring in 1996, he founded Anew Woodworks in Western North Carolina, focusing on custom furniture and refinishing.

Gillespie is survived by five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, with an unborn great-grandson expected. His move from mining to craftsmanship reflects a shift in career paths that may inspire others in similar transitions within the industry.
