Minister Utsev Inspects 130m³ Otukpo Dam Project in Benue State
Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, inspected the Otukpo Multipurpose Dam project in Benue State, which will store 130 million cubic meters of water and support hydroelectric power, clean water, and irrigation for 2,000 hectares. The project includes a 22-meter-high embankment and aims to alleviate water supply challenges in the region. Utsev reaffirmed the government's commitment to timely completion and addressing local concerns, including security issues raised by community leaders.

The Federal Government is advancing work on the Otukpo Multipurpose Dam in Benue State, which will hold 130 million cubic metres of water. Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, conducted a site inspection in Otobi Akpa as part of a nationwide evaluation of water infrastructure.
The project aims to provide hydroelectric power, clean water, and irrigation for 2,000 hectares of farmland, along with constructing 13 kilometres of access roads. The dam's construction includes a 22-metre-high earth-fill embankment and various water management structures.
It is designed to address water supply challenges in Zones C and B of Benue State. Utsev emphasized the government's commitment to completing the project promptly and addressing local concerns, including security issues raised by community leaders during his visit.
