Minister Utsev Inspects Otukpo Multipurpose Dam in Benue, Promises Timely Completion
Minister Joseph Utsev inspected the Otukpo Multipurpose Dam in Benue, reaffirming the federal government's commitment to its timely completion as part of a nationwide initiative to improve water facilities. The dam, which will provide potable water, hydroelectric power, and irrigation for local agriculture, aims to foster socio-economic development and job creation in the region. Utsev also addressed local security concerns during his visit with traditional leaders.

Joseph Utsev, Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, inspected the Otukpo Multipurpose Dam in Benue, emphasizing the federal government's commitment to its timely completion. This inspection is part of a nationwide tour initiated by President Bola Tinubu to assess water facilities and address supply and sanitation challenges.
The Otukpo Dam, once completed, will feature a reservoir capacity of 130 million cubic meters, generate 3.3 megawatts of hydroelectric power, provide potable water, irrigate approximately 2,000 hectares, and include 13 kilometers of internal access roads. The project aims to create jobs and enhance socio-economic development.
Utsev confirmed that the dam is the most sustainable solution for water challenges in the area and urged community support for the completion efforts. He also addressed local security concerns during a courtesy call on Chief Wilson Ahola, the Traditional Rulers of Akpa District.
