MLA Jagtap Calls for Coordination with MSEDCL to Prevent Power Outages
MLA Shankar Jagtap mandates coordination with MSEDCL for excavation work to mitigate power disruptions. This directive follows heavy rainfall that caused significant outages due to damaged underground cables.

During a review meeting on July 16, 2026, MLA Shankar Jagtap mandated that no civic department in Pimpri Chinchwad should conduct excavation without prior coordination with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). This order aims to address repeated power outages caused by damage to underground cables during recent heavy rains.
The meeting also highlighted the need for an immediate inspection and repair of distribution transformers and discussed long-term strategies to enhance the power supply infrastructure, including a proposed 220/22 kV, 300 MVA substation at Gahunje. A joint meeting involving Mahatransco will take place next week to finalize the project plans. Ensuring proper coordination may significantly reduce future power interruptions in the region.
