MOL Chemical Tankers Announces Leadership Transition with Tomoaki Ichida Succeeding Akira Sasa

AMMONIA

MOL Chemical Tankers will undergo a leadership change, with CEO Akira Sasa retiring at the end of March 2026. Sasa has been at the helm since April 2022 and has overseen fleet expansion and alternative fuel investments.

He will be succeeded by Tomoaki Ichida, who is currently a managing executive officer at Mitsui OSK Lines and has managed the Americas business since April 2023. The company is advancing its lower-emission fleet, including a recent charter agreement with CMB.TECH for six new chemical tankers, expected to be the world's first ammonia-fuelled vessels, set for delivery between 2028 and 2029.
