Monroe Township Approves Preliminary Plan for 1.6 Million Sq Ft Warehouses in NJ
DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE
The Monroe Township Planning Board approved a preliminary site plan for two warehouses totaling 1.6 million square feet on January 8. The project will occupy 95 acres of farmland along Black Horse Pike.
Residents expressed concerns about a potential AI data center due to a zoning ordinance change allowing such developments. Local officials stated there are no current plans for an AI data center, but future proposals may arise.
The project requires further approvals from several agencies before construction can begin. Nationwide, demand for data centers is expected to triple by 2030, driven by AI technology.
