Montgomery County Council to Introduce Immigration Bills and Data Center Regulations
Montgomery County Councilmembers Will Jawando and Kristin Mink are set to introduce immigration enforcement bills aimed at limiting ICE's access to county facilities and regulating law enforcement attire. Additionally, the council will consider zoning amendments for data centers, restricting their locations and imposing new noise and emissions standards, alongside a proposal for a task force to study data center policies. A briefing on the Clarksburg Gateway Sector Plan is also scheduled, with a public hearing to follow.

Montgomery County Councilmembers Will Jawando and Kristin Mink will introduce immigration enforcement bills during Tuesday's session. Mink's County Values Act aims to restrict ICE access to non-public areas of county facilities without a federal judicial warrant and prohibits ICE from using county-owned parking areas for enforcement operations.
It also mandates signage and reporting of unauthorized ICE property use. Jawando's Unmask ICE Act would ban law enforcement agents from wearing masks while on duty, with exceptions for specific circumstances.
Additionally, the council will consider a zoning text amendment to regulate data centers, proposed by council President Natali Fani-González and others, which would limit data centers to industrially-zoned areas and impose new noise and emissions regulations. Councilmember Evan Glass will propose a task force to study data center policies. A briefing on the Clarksburg Gateway Sector Plan will also occur, with a public hearing scheduled.
