Montvale Seeks Court Pause on Affordable Housing Deadline Amid KPMG Development Dispute
Montvale is requesting a judicial pause on the state's March 15 affordable housing deadline while contesting the Fair Share Housing Center's objections to its agreement with KPMG's developer. The borough's plan allows for either a data center or affordable housing on the 34-acre site, which is being challenged for potentially violating state housing laws. The request was filed in Bergen County Superior Court following a recommendation to remove the data center option from the plan.

Montvale is asking Bergen County Superior Court for a pause on the state's March 15 affordable housing deadline as it disputes the Fair Share Housing Center's opposition to its agreement with the KPMG property developer, S. Hekemian Group.
The borough's plan permits the developer to build either a data center or affordable housing on a 34-acre site. This request follows a Feb. 10 recommendation to remove the data center option. Mayor Michael Ghassali asserts the borough's plan is compliant with state laws. The Fair Share Housing Center argues that the plan undermines affordable housing requirements.
