Mooir Vannin Offshore Windfarm Selects Groudle Bay for Landfall Connection
Groudle Bay is now the chosen landfall site for the Mooir Vannin offshore windfarm after a technical reassessment by the developer and Manx Utilities. A new connection point at Pulrose allows for a more feasible onshore cable route. The 1.4 gigawatt project aims to export electricity primarily to the UK, with 60 to 100 megawatts potentially available for local use. The decision favors Groudle due to its operational resilience and minimal conflict with existing infrastructure.

Following a technical reassessment, Groudle Bay has been selected as the preferred landfall option for the Mooir Vannin offshore windfarm. Initially dismissed due to the long onshore cable route to the Lord Street substation, the project shifted focus after Manx Utilities identified a new connection point at Pulrose.
The 1.4 gigawatt project aims to export electricity to the UK, with 60 to 100 megawatts potentially allocated for local use. Groudle Bay was favored for its operational resilience, route diversity, and minimal conflict with existing infrastructure, contrasting with Port Skillion, which posed higher risks.
