MOPCO Initiates Green Initiatives with Global Partnerships for Ammonia Production
MOPCO, Egypt's largest nitrogenous fertilizer producer, aims to enhance safety and reduce carbon emissions while expanding its market reach. The company is collaborating with Scatec and Yara to produce green ammonia, supporting Egypt's green energy goals and optimizing resource utilization.

MOPCO's total annual production capacity is approximately 2 million tons of urea and 1.2 million tons of ammonia. The company fulfills 30% of Egypt's local urea demand and meets 60% of the ammonia demand, exporting to Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
Minister Badawi emphasized the importance of achieving safety in petrochemical production and reducing emissions to attract investment. Ongoing collaborations with the Ministry of Electricity aim to enhance renewable energy use, supporting Egypt's vision as a green energy hub. MOPCO has recorded over 19 million safe working hours since 2018 and is expanding its solar capacity while implementing a Zero Liquid Discharge system.
