Morgan Stanley Forecasts Major Export Cycle in Argentina Driven by Mining Sector

STRATEGIC MINERALS

Morgan Stanley projects a transformative mining cycle in Argentina, suggesting that pro-investment policies and the RIGI framework could attract over $50 billion in investments for more than 50 identified mining projects. The report anticipates mining exports increasing from $5 billion in 2025 to nearly $40 billion by 2035, particularly in copper, with expected annual production of 1.2 million tons by the mid-2030s.

Lithium, contributing 8% of global supply, could see production more than double by 2030. Key projects include Vicuña and Taca Taca, with significant employment growth expected during construction and operation phases. The report notes risks such as price drops and political stability affecting regulatory frameworks.
