Morocco Advances Digital Sovereignty with 5G and Data Center Development
Morocco is implementing a digital sovereignty strategy through 5G deployment and significant data center projects. These initiatives, including a 50 MW facility in Rabat and a 500 MW hyperscale center in Dakhla, aim to enhance data security and position Morocco as a regional digital hub by 2030.

The 5G network, launched on November 7, 2025, is projected to contribute between $4 billion and $6 billion to the Moroccan economy by 2030. Investments of approximately 40 billion dirhams are anticipated in related infrastructure and services.
The Rabat data center will house sensitive state data and support advanced AI modeling, while the Dakhla center will utilize renewable energy and target a broader African market. Morocco is also developing a hybrid cloud strategy focusing on state services and aims to create 50,000 AI-related jobs by 2030. These developments are expected to enhance the nation’s digital capabilities and stimulate economic growth, linking local innovations to global technology trends.
