Morocco to Develop Renewable-Powered Data Center and Expand Mining for Critical Metals
Morocco is set to launch the 'Igoudar Dakhla' data center, which will operate entirely on renewable energy to bolster its AI ecosystem. The country aims to expand its mining sector to meet the rising demand for critical metals like copper, tin, and lithium, with significant investments planned by Managem for cobalt sulfate production and diversification into other metals by 2030.

Morocco plans to establish the 'Igoudar Dakhla' data center, powered entirely by renewable energy, to support the AI ecosystem. The country's mining sector aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for critical metals essential for data centers.
Morocco has potential resources including copper, tin, and silica, which are vital for electronic components. Current copper production is set to double with the new Tizert mine, while tin prices are rising due to global supply constraints.
The lithium market is also experiencing significant growth, driven by the electric vehicle sector in China. Additionally, Morocco's Managem has initiated a major investment plan through its Mana Green subsidiary, focusing on cobalt sulfate production by 2026 and diversifying into other critical metals by 2030.
