M&S Launches Vertically Farmed Salad Products in Sustainability Push
Marks & Spencer has introduced three new vertically farmed salad leaf products, utilizing advanced indoor farming technology. This initiative significantly reduces water and fertilizer usage, aligning with the company's sustainability goals under its Plan A for Farming initiative.

Marks & Spencer has launched three vertically farmed salad leaf products, developed with Planet Farms, that utilize advanced indoor farming technology, achieving up to 96% less water and 97% less fertilizer compared to conventional methods. This initiative is part of M&S's Plan A for Farming strategy, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2040.
The salads are grown in controlled environments with robotics and UV lighting, enhancing shelf life by up to five days. The clean harvesting process eliminates the need for washing the products. M&S is also exploring regenerative agriculture practices alongside its vertical farming efforts, addressing environmental concerns in food production. The launch reflects a growing global interest in resource-efficient farming technologies.
