Mumbai Launches Mega Textile Waste Collection Initiative with ReFiber and OterRi
ReFiber, in collaboration with OterRi, initiated a city-wide post-consumer textile waste collection and upcycling program in Mumbai from June 5-12, 2026. The program aims to establish a circular textile ecosystem while promoting environmental sustainability and social empowerment through community participation.

From June 5-12, 2026, ReFiber, supported by OterRi, is conducting a comprehensive textile waste collection initiative across Mumbai to create a sustainable circular economy. This project includes the launch of the ReFiber Upcycled Products Marketplace, highlighting products crafted by women artisans.
The initiative encourages citizens to donate used garments via collection centers and a digital platform. Key industry figures, including Textile Commissioner Vrunda Desai, emphasize the potential of textile recycling and the importance of collaboration among government, industry, and citizens to repurpose waste.
The event involved discussions on technology-driven textile waste management and fostering partnerships for sustainable growth. This initiative could significantly reduce landfill waste and enhance livelihoods through upcycling efforts.
