Munster Considers Data Center Exception for Kenmara Technology Park Development
The Munster Plan Commission is set to review a proposal to include data centers as a special use in the Kenmara Technology Park. This decision follows community concerns about potential impacts, including noise and infrastructure demands.

The Munster Plan Commission will evaluate a developer's request to amend the planned-use development agreement for Kenmara Technology Park to permit data centers as a special exception use. Currently, the ordinance allows various technology-related businesses on the former Lansing Country Club site, with the development agreement signed in July 2023.
Community members have raised concerns regarding noise, water supply, and electrical reliability, emphasizing the need for safeguards if data centers are allowed. A public hearing on the Kenmara PUD is scheduled for July 14, 2026, while a proposed unified development ordinance will also be discussed at the upcoming meeting. The council's decision could significantly impact local economic development and community trust.
