Muon Space Expands Workforce for Mass-Scale Satellite Production
Muon Space is ramping up recruitment after securing $146 million in Series B funding and defense contracts. The company is shifting to a mass-scale constellation production model, supported by a new facility in San Jose capable of producing 500 satellites annually.
Muon Space plans to increase its workforce to support a transition to mass-scale satellite constellation production. This follows its $146 million Series B funding and high-value defense contracts, including the Missile Defense Agency's SHIELD IDIQ program.
The company’s new 130,000-square-foot facility in San Jose will enable the production of up to 500 satellites per year. Muon is also executing a $44.6 million contract from the U.S. Space Force for Space-Based Environmental Monitoring prototypes.
The integration of SpaceX Starlink mini-laser terminals is set for Q3 2026, enhancing the company's operational capabilities. Continued hiring through late 2026 is anticipated, with a focus on delivering operational outcomes rather than just hardware.
