Myanmar's Military Adopts Russian Tactics and Weapons Amid Ongoing Civil War
Myanmar's military, aided by Russian weapons and tactics, is gaining momentum in a civil war now in its sixth year. Russian airpower, intelligence, and 'meat assault' tactics have been utilized, with a significant increase in army ranks due to conscription. The relationship between Myanmar and Russia has deepened since the 2021 coup, with Moscow providing military supplies and support. This has resulted in a violent campaign against both rebels and civilians, leading to a high death toll.

Russian weapons and tactics are aiding Myanmar's military in a civil war that has lasted six years. Russian-made jets, helicopters, and drones have provided a crucial advantage. Following the 2021 coup, Myanmar has become increasingly reliant on Russia, which has supplied munitions and military equipment.
The introduction of nationwide conscription has bolstered military ranks by nearly 100,000 soldiers. Russian tactics, including high-casualty infantry assaults, have been adopted. The conflict has resulted in at least 96,000 deaths, with air and drone strikes causing significant civilian casualties. Recent military cooperation agreements and technological exchanges, including drone warfare capabilities, have further solidified this partnership.
