N9VE Begins Rare Earth Oxide Production in Portugal for Industrial Autonomy
N9VE has initiated the production of rare earth oxides in Portugal with over 99.8% purity, marking a significant step towards European industrial autonomy. This development aligns with the EU's Critical Raw Materials Act, aiming to reduce Europe’s reliance on imports.

N9VE has commenced the production of rare earth oxides at its facility in Barcelos, achieving a purity level above 99.8%. This production is part of the N9VE.REEnew project, co-financed by COMPETE 2030, Portugal 2030, and the European Union through the ERDF.
Rare earth materials are essential for various sectors, including wind energy and electric mobility, where Europe is currently dependent on imports. The company emphasizes the opportunity to recover rare earths already in Europe, promoting a circular economy and reducing the need for new raw materials. The technology development supports the EU's aim to enhance critical raw material capacities.
