Nachtigal Hydroelectric Project in Cameroon on Track for 2023 Commissioning
The Nachtigal Hydroelectric Project in Cameroon is progressing towards its expected commissioning by 2023, aiming to generate 420 megawatts of electricity and fulfill 30% of the country's energy needs. Construction at the Ndokoa site in Batchenga is active, with over 300 workers engaged in grading and surfacing to prepare for the power plant and temporary lodging facilities.
The site is organized into 11 zones, with five currently operational, including a workshop and quarry. Augusto Soares dos Reis, General Manager of Nachtigal Hydro Power Company, confirmed that the financing of approximately FCFA 800 billion is secured, ensuring the project continues without financial concerns.
