Namibia Advances Green Hydrogen Programme Amid Legislative Questions
Namibia's Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, asserts that the green hydrogen programme supports Vision 2030 and aims to transition the country to a diversified economy. LPM MP Eneas Emvula raised concerns about the lack of a legislative framework for the project, to which Amutse replied that existing laws govern industrial activities and that project developers must comply with Namibian laws and licensing conditions.

Namibia's green hydrogen programme is part of Vision 2030 and the Sixth National Development Plan, aiming to shift the country from a commodity exporter to an industrialised economy. Minister Modestus Amutse addressed concerns from LPM MP Eneas Emvula regarding the absence of a legislative framework for the project, stating that it operates under existing legislation applicable to industrial activities. Amutse confirmed that all project developers are contractually obligated to adhere to Namibian laws and licensing conditions through their agreements.
