Namibia Establishes Green Industries Council to Enhance Industrial Development
The Cabinet has approved the formation of the Green Industries Council to replace the Green Hydrogen Council, which concluded its term in February 2025. This strategic shift aims to enhance Namibia's industrialisation, diversify its economy, and create jobs by focusing on broader green industrialization initiatives.
The new Green Industries Council will guide Namibia's green industrialisation strategy, emphasizing policy coordination and investment priorities. Announced by ICT minister Emma Theofelus, this decision emerged from recent Cabinet meetings chaired by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
The council will include members from various ministries, signifying a collaborative approach to industrial development. This transition from a focus on green hydrogen to a comprehensive industrial strategy positions Namibia to leverage opportunities in emerging green sectors, potentially impacting economic growth and job creation significantly.
