NanoMalaysia Unveils Advanced Sodium-Ion Battery Prototype Exceeding 300 Wh/kg
NanoMalaysia Berhad has introduced a sodium-ion battery prototype with an energy density over 300 Wh/kg, marking a significant advancement in battery technology. Developed through the NanoMalaysia Energy Storage Technology Initiative in collaboration with International Battery Centre Sdn Bhd, this prototype aims to enhance commercial readiness and establish industry partnerships to further advance sodium-ion technology.

NanoMalaysia Berhad (NMB) has launched a sodium-ion battery prototype that exceeds 300 Wh/kg in energy density, ranking it among the most advanced globally. The development was part of the NanoMalaysia Energy Storage Technology Initiative (NESTI) in collaboration with International Battery Centre Sdn Bhd.
This milestone is viewed as crucial for scaling and commercial readiness, with emphasis on forming industry partnerships to advance the technology. The prototype aims to offer performance comparable to lithium-ion batteries while addressing cost, safety, and sustainability issues.
