Napanee Council Defers Recreation Facility Feasibility Study to Next Term
Greater Napanee Council has decided to recommend a feasibility study for a future recreation facility to the next council. This decision follows concerns about current budget constraints and prioritization of immediate infrastructure needs.

On June 23, 2026, the Greater Napanee Council opted to defer a feasibility study for a new recreation facility to the next term. This recommendation comes amid existing budget constraints and the need to prioritize the replacement of the automation system at 99 Advance Avenue, which will cost $58,440 and is critical for energy management.
The existing system, installed in 2008, is outdated and no longer supported. The feasibility study for the recreation facility is projected to cost between $50,000 and $150,000, with potential funding options discussed. Councillor Bob Norrie and Deputy Mayor Brian Calver expressed concerns over current spending capabilities, indicating a consensus to delay the study until the next council term.
