NASA Completes Repairs on Space Launch System for Artemis 2 Mission, Launch Set for April

SPACE ECONOMY

NASA has resolved a technical issue with the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket for the Artemis 2 mission, allowing the launch to remain scheduled for April. The issue involved a helium flow disruption critical for pressurizing the upper stage fuel tanks, identified during a launch rehearsal.

The SLS was returned to the Kennedy Space Center for repairs. Engineers performed maintenance on the faulty connector and replaced batteries in various stages of the rocket. Artemis 2 aims to send four astronauts on a ten-day lunar orbit, marking the first crewed flight to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972. The Artemis program has also been restructured, with Artemis 4 planned for a lunar landing in 2028.
