NATO to Launch Defence, Security and Resilience Bank at Ankara Summit
The Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB) will be officially launched at the NATO summit in Ankara on July 7-8, 2026. This multilateral financial institution aims to enhance funding access for NATO member states' defense projects and strategic technologies, addressing critical financing gaps in the defense industry.

The upcoming NATO summit in Ankara will see the official launch of the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB), intended to bolster financial support for defense projects among NATO members. Romania will be a founding member, providing it with a role in shaping the bank's operational framework.
The DSRB seeks to mitigate financing challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the defense sector, which often struggle to secure funding for essential technologies and production expansion. With estimated annual investment needs running into hundreds of billions of euros, traditional national budgets may be insufficient to meet these demands.
By issuing guarantees to financial institutions, the DSRB aims to mobilize private capital, enhancing lending to the defense industry. This initiative complements existing NATO innovation programs and signals the Alliance's commitment to strengthening its military and financial infrastructure.
