Natural Power Launches Updated OCcAM Seabird Mortality Tool for Offshore Wind Industry
Natural Power has released an updated version of the Ornithological Cumulative Assessment Model (OCcAM) seabird mortality tool, now managed by the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC). The tool, originally developed by SSE Renewables, supports early-stage impact assessments for offshore wind projects and includes data for nine seabird species. A live demonstration webinar is scheduled for 25th February.

Natural Power has updated the Ornithological Cumulative Assessment Model (OCcAM), a seabird mortality tool for the offshore wind industry, which is now a free resource managed by the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC). This version includes assessments for nine seabird species relevant to offshore projects, such as the lesser black-backed gull and northern gannet.
The tool provides biometric parameters and allows users to input bird density data for various development scenarios, enhancing early-stage impact assessments. The update has been endorsed by UK statutory nature conservation bodies (SNCBs). A live demonstration webinar will be held on 25th February to guide users on its application.
