Natural Resources Canada Grants CAD 3M to Nano One for LFP Cathode Supply Chain Development
Nano One Materials Corp. has received CAD 3 million from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to optimize its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode material processes. This funding will support ongoing development, supply chain diversification, and enhance commercial offerings until March 31, 2028. Sumitomo Metal Mining will provide technical expertise for the project, which aims to reduce reliance on Chinese materials and improve the economic resilience of supply chains in Canada.

Nano One Materials Corp. received CAD 3 million from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to enhance its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode material production processes. This funding will be used until March 31, 2028, for process optimization and supply chain diversification.
The company will focus on iron inputs leveraging its R&D facility in Burnaby, British Columbia, and pilot facilities in Candiac, Quebec. Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. will assist with technical expertise and validations. The initiative aims to reduce dependence on Chinese materials, with 98% of LFP cathode materials sourced from there, and enhance the resilience of Canadian supply chains.
