NavPrakriti to Invest ₹100 Crore in Odisha Critical Minerals Refining Facility
NavPrakriti plans to invest over ₹100 crore in a new facility in Odisha to refine critical minerals, enhancing India's recycling ecosystem. The project aims to process 5,000 MTA of end-of-life batteries by FY 2028-29, supporting domestic supply chains and reducing import reliance.

NavPrakriti, a lithium-ion battery recycling firm, is set to invest over ₹100 crore in establishing a critical minerals refining facility in Odisha, expected to begin operations by FY 2028-29. This facility will process 5,000 metric tonnes per annum of end-of-life batteries, focusing on extracting lithium, cobalt, and nickel, in alignment with the National Critical Mineral Mission's objectives to bolster India’s supply chain and minimize imports.
The company’s first recycling unit in Serampore, West Bengal, operates with a capacity of 12,000 tonnes, expandable to 24,000 tonnes. The new facility is anticipated to create over 500 jobs and enhance resource security. Collaborations with over 150 battery manufacturers are planned to improve recovery processes and battery refurbishment, reinforcing the nation’s sustainability goals.
