NEC has finalized the design of payload equipment for a small technology demonstration satellite, which is scheduled to launch in fiscal year 2027. This satellite will verify key technologies essential for future optical communication satellite constellations, including optical inter-satellite communications, high-speed network routing, and millimetre-wave communications. The payload is now progressing to the manufacturing and integration phase with the satellite bus.
