NEC Signs 48.3MW Virtual PPA with Cosmo for Chuki Wind Farm in Japan
NEC Corporation has entered into a virtual Power Purchase Agreement (vPPA) with Cosmo Eco Power for the environmental benefits from the 48.3MW Chuki Wind Farm in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, effective December 25, 2024. This agreement allows NEC to source approximately 50% of its electricity consumption for its Japanese data centers from renewable energy. The Chuki Wind Farm has been operational since April 2021 and continues to contribute to the Japanese electricity market.

NEC Corporation has signed a virtual Power Purchase Agreement (vPPA) with Cosmo Eco Power for the environmental value from the 48.3MW Chuki Wind Farm in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. The vPPA has been effective since December 25, 2024, enabling NEC to cover approximately 50% of its electricity consumption from its Japanese data centers with renewable energy. The Chuki Wind Farm began commercial operations in April 2021 and continues to supply power to the Japanese electricity market, with NEC purchasing only the environmental benefits generated.
