NemKonto System Resumes Operations After 12-Hour Outage Due to Power Failure

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

The NemKonto system in Denmark was out of service for approximately 12 hours due to a power failure at a data center, affecting all citizens and businesses that rely on it for payments. Digitaliseringsstyrelsen announced the downtime at 15:55, indicating that authorities and private companies could not perform transactions or check accounts.

The issue stemmed from a network problem linked to the power outage. As of now, the system is functioning normally again. Netcompany, which has operated NemKonto since 2025, is working on a new version of the system on its Amplio platform, which integrates with over 100 payment systems. NemKonto manages around 130 million payments annually and contains about six million registered bank accounts.
