Neo Performance Materials Advances Rare Earth Element Production in Estonia
Neo Performance Materials' new facility in Estonia marks a significant step towards strengthening EU's rare earth supply chains. The plant aims to support the growing demand for critical materials used in EVs and clean energy technologies.

Neo Performance Materials has initiated production of terbium and dysprosium solutions in Estonia to enhance European rare earth element (REE) supply chains. The facility, operational since early April 2026, plans to produce 2,000 tons of sintered magnetic blocks annually, with future expansion to 5,000 tons.
This project is part of a broader EU initiative to reduce reliance on Chinese REE supplies, supported by an €18.7 million grant from the Just Transition Fund. The growing demand for REEs, projected to increase by one-third globally by 2030, underscores the urgency of establishing local refining capacities. Estonia's plant exemplifies strategic efforts in critical raw materials processing.
