Neoen Launches 348 MW Battery Projects in France and Japan
Neoen has initiated two battery energy storage system projects, totaling 348 MW and 896 MWh, in France and Japan. This expansion emphasizes the company's commitment to increasing renewable energy integration in both regions, reflecting a growing trend in energy storage solutions.

Neoen is set to develop a battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine, France, with a capacity of 248 MW and 496 MWh, marking it as the largest battery in the country. The project will connect to the 400 kV transmission network operated by RTE, with construction beginning in summer 2026 and commissioning planned for 2028.
Additionally, Neoen is launching its Ako Battery project in Hyogo, Japan, with a capacity of 100 MW and 400 MWh, in partnership with Equans and Toho. This project is expected to begin construction soon and also aims for a 2028 commissioning.
Neoen's global battery portfolio stands at 2.8 GW and 8.1 GWh, with plans for an additional 10 GW by 2030. The partnership with Nidec for the French project underlines ongoing industrial collaboration.
