Nepal Advocates 'Hydro-to-Data' Strategy in Washington for Clean Energy Digital Infrastructure
A delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal proposed a 'hydro-to-data' strategy to leverage hydropower for digital infrastructure in meetings with US agencies. The US Trade and Development Agency may support feasibility studies for this initiative, which seeks to attract AI and cryptocurrency industries to Nepal, addressing energy demands and regulatory challenges in the West.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal presented a 'hydro-to-data' initiative in Washington, targeting clean energy-powered digital infrastructure. The US Trade and Development Agency indicated potential support for feasibility studies, and financing discussions occurred with the US International Development Finance Corporation.
The delegation included AmCham Nepal leaders and held meetings with the US Departments of State, Commerce, and Energy, promoting Nepal's hydropower surplus for energy-intensive sectors. They called for reduced regulatory barriers in Nepal to facilitate the growth of AI and crypto industries, which could utilize excess electricity. Additionally, plans for a US-Nepal Energy Roadshow were discussed to engage global investors in Nepali hydropower projects.
