Nepal Reduces Federal Ministries from 22 to 18 for Administrative Reform
Nepal's government has decreased the number of federal ministries from 22 to 18 to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. This structural change is part of a broader reform agenda aimed at improving governmental performance and cutting unnecessary expenditures.

The Council of Ministers in Nepal has approved a reduction of federal ministries to 18, endorsing the 'Nepal Government (Work Division) Regulations, 2083.' Key ministries, including Finance, Home, Foreign Affairs, and Defense, remain intact, while new entities like the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation have been established.
Other ministries have been reorganized, leading to the formation of the Ministry of Education and Sports, and the Ministry of Health and Food Security, among others. This restructuring aims to reduce operational costs and enhance administrative efficiency, addressing challenges posed by an excess of ministries. The changes are part of the '100-Point Agenda for Government Reform' initiated by the new government.
