NESO's CSNP Methodology Receives Conditional Approval
The National Energy System Operator's Centralised Strategic Network Plan Methodology has been conditionally approved. This plan is essential for coordinating electricity, gas, and hydrogen transmission networks in Great Britain.

The National Energy System Operator (NESO) received conditional approval for its Centralised Strategic Network Plan (CSNP) Methodology, which was submitted to Ofgem in January 2026. The CSNP aims to create a long-term, independent plan for the electricity and gas transmission and hydrogen transport and storage networks in Great Britain, utilizing inputs from the Strategic Spatial Energy Plan (SSEP).
The Methodology outlines a structured process for identifying system needs, developing and appraising options, and recommending delivery while detailing governance and stakeholder engagement strategies. This initiative is crucial for ensuring a clean, affordable, and secure energy system in the region.
