Netherlands Announces 1GW Offshore Wind Tender for IJmuiden Ver Gamma-A Site in 2026
The Dutch government plans to hold an offshore wind tender in 2026 for a single 1GW project at the IJmuiden Ver Gamma-A site in the North Sea. This decision reduces the earlier proposal of auctioning two 1GW sites.
The project will be supported through the SDE++ subsidy scheme, with a maximum support level of €104/MWh. Previous auctions faced challenges, with a recent zero-subsidy auction for a 1GW site receiving no bids due to rising costs and decreased electricity demand.
By limiting the tender to 1GW, the government aims to attract more bids and mitigate the risk of delays. The tender is scheduled to open in September 2026 after a public consultation and pending approval from the European Commission.
