New Affordable Apartments Open in Jackson; Homicides Decline in 2025
Two new affordable apartment buildings, The Blackstone and The Greenwood, opened in Jackson, Michigan, with completion aimed for late 2025. Pivotal began construction in January 2024, and as of December 3, The Blackstone was fully leased while The Greenwood had 15 available units.
The two buildings provide a total of 104 apartments. Additionally, Jackson County reported only six homicides in 2025, the lowest in three years, down from 10 in each of the previous three years. Other developments include Spring Arbor University preparing to accept students from the soon-to-close Siena Heights University.
A proposed ordinance for data center regulations is under consideration in Henrietta Township. The community faced a Christmas Day fire in Napoleon Township and the closure of several local businesses, including Marketplace Manna.
