New Cargo Checkpoint to Open at Taman Port for Togliattiazot
The Russian Transport Ministry has initiated a draft order for a permanent maritime cargo checkpoint at the Taman seaport. This development is crucial for Togliattiazot, enhancing its operational capacity amid halted ammonia transit since February 2022.

A maritime cargo checkpoint will be established at the Taman seaport in Krasnodar Territory, as per a draft order from the Transport Ministry. Togliattiazot's terminal project at this port, which began in the early 2000s, faced multiple delays due to land lease disputes and ownership recognition issues, but resumed progress after resolving land matters in summer 2022.
The terminal aims to handle 2 million tonnes of ammonia annually in its first phase, with plans to expand to 3.5 million tonnes of ammonia and 1.5 million tonnes of urea in the subsequent phase. The launch of the terminal, initially slated for 2024, is now postponed to a later date due to external factors, impacting Togliattiazot's capacity utilization.
