New Forest District Council Approves Battery Storage Facility by Sky UK Developments Ltd
New Forest District Council has approved plans for a battery storage facility by Sky UK Developments Ltd on a 1.6-hectare site near the Marchwood Bypass. The facility will consist of 24 battery storage containers, with a connection to the grid expected by 2035. The project will have an eight-year commencement period and is designed to operate for 30 years, supporting the UK's clean power commitments. The construction will be overseen by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.

Sky UK Developments Ltd's plans for a battery storage facility have been approved by New Forest District Council. The 1.6-hectare site, currently used for horse grazing, will host 24 battery storage containers connected to the grid at Bury Brickfield Park, approximately one kilometer away, with the connection anticipated by 2035.
The facility will include a transformer unit for each pair of containers, two substations, eight water storage tanks, and a spare parts container. It is set to be operational for 30 years, with an eight-year commencement period granted. The project is supported by a major renewable energy investor and will involve underground cabling managed by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.
