In Independence, a controversial AI data center project faces community opposition, while King anticipates potential city revenue growth. The city also carries over $70 million in debt from the Crackerneck Creek development, impacting service provision. King highlighted the urgent need to fill 30 police officer, 15 firefighter, and 19 dispatcher vacancies, emphasizing public safety as a priority.
