Local officials emphasize the station's role in enhancing infrastructure and environmental protection.

The West Triangle Pump Station in Bullitt County, Kentucky, is now operational, diverting approximately 200,000 gallons of wastewater daily to the Derek Guthrie Water Quality Treatment Center in Jefferson County. This new facility replaces the partially collapsed Hunter's Hollow Wastewater Treatment Plant from 2014.
The activation is expected to reduce sewage overflows during heavy rainfall, improving local environmental conditions. MSD acquired the Bullitt County Sanitation District in 2021 and aims to enhance water quality in the region through this infrastructure investment.
