Newburgh Town Council Advances Wastewater Treatment Project and Highlights 2025 Utility Improvements
The Newburgh Town Council is progressing on a wastewater treatment project, following the publication of the 2025 Capacity, Management, Operations and Maintenance report, which indicates significant improvements in wastewater treatment and overflow reduction. The utility treated 1.395 billion gallons in 2025 with only 4,275 gallons of overflow, compared to 1.293 billion gallons and 113,180 gallons in 2024. Construction for a new flow equalization tank is set to begin by early May, with a projected completion in one to two years.

The Newburgh Town Council is advancing a wastewater treatment project while celebrating utility achievements in 2025. The Town of Newburgh Wastewater Utility's report indicates it treated 1.395 billion gallons of wastewater in 2025, with only 4,275 gallons of overflow, a significant reduction from 113,180 gallons in 2024.
The council approved Reynolds Construction to proceed with a new flow equalization tank, to be constructed across from the current plant, with work expected to start by early May and take one to two years. The council also secured $143,039.31 in READI funding for Rivertown Trail repairs and will initially cover costs before reimbursement.
