The Newtown-Bucks County Joint Municipal Authority intends to seek court approval to sell a 17-acre parcel originally designated for a $128 million wastewater treatment plant in Newtown Township. This decision follows public concerns from Middletown Township residents, leading to the termination of the project last November.

The land was purchased for $9 million through eminent domain in May 2024. The authority must legally offer the property back to 42 University LLC, but their $11.5 million offer was declined. The idea of donating the land to remain undeveloped has been proposed but deemed financially unfeasible by the authority.
